How Do I Know If I Am Eligible for OPAL’s Housing? What is the Application Process?
OPAL offers the following housing options or services:
- Homeownership for households earning an average annual income starting at about $25,000. OPAL’s maximum eligible income and assets are now based on a formula tied to prices in the traditional market. If you can not afford the average lowest priced home on the island in the traditional market, then you are eligible for an OPAL home.
- Rental apartments for households earning an average annual income of between $13,000 and $36,000.
- Rental assistance for one-time help with a down payment or monthly rent.
- Energy assistance for help with winter heating bills (offered only December through February).
